Debbie has been potting for 12 years and has completed City & Guilds level 3 Diploma in 'Design and Craft'. She is particularily interested in hand-building organic forms and includes mould making elements as well. She incorporates contrast in her work, for example, ornate handles on moulded plastic milk containers. For the last two years she has been focusing on ( some would say obsessed by! ) teapots. These are highly decorated on the basis of 'more is more'. Debbie works predominantly in earthenware with occasional forays into stoneware and even porcelain.
Debbie has had a sculptural work exhibited at the South Hill Park Open ceramics exhibition 2004, and the International Women's week exhibition in the Arts Centre in Basingstoke. The work was entitled " A Mountain of Washing-up " and, yes, it did include a teapot.
Her challenge for this exhibition is to sell something to someone she doesn't know.
Debbie is happy to discuss commissions.
